User Education Team

Description: The User Education Team is dedicated to developing a suite of user assistance materials. These materials will provide an innovative and sophisticated way for users of all experience levels to access information related to the Alliance Operating System.

Positions: The User Education team is currently looking for people who have experience developing user education materials.

User Interface Team

Description: The User Interface Team is in charge of the development of the User Interface, including various Graphical User Interfaces and text-based interfaces.

Positions: The User Interface team is in need of people who have experience developing user interfaces.

Kernel Team

Description: This is the overall team that contains all of the other subteams that develop the Alliance Kernel. These teams include the Cache Kernel team, Input/Output System Kernel team, Network System Kernel team, Graphics System Kernel team, Filesystem System Kernel team, and System ORB team.

Positions: The Kernel Team is always in need of developers. Please contact the appropriate subteam you wish to join, or you can also contact Daniel Arbuckle.

Cache Kernel Team

Description: The Cache Kernel Team is in charge of developing the Cache Kernel, which is at the core of the Alliance OS design. The Cache Kernel functions at the lowest level within the system, providing such services as object caching, the task scheduler, IOC, interrupt forwarding, and physical memory management.

Positions: The Cache Kernel Team is in need of developers who have experience with kernel coding. Contact Rudy Gingles for more information.

Input/Output SK Team

Description: The IOSK team is in charge of the design and implementation of a unified driver model, covering both serial and random-access devices, and I/O models for the Alliance Kernel.

Positions: The IOSK team is in need of developers. Please email Daniel Arbuckle to apply for a position.

Network SK Team

Description: The NetSK team is in charge of developing the networking systems for the Alliance Kernel, including protocol and hardware support. Its primary objective is to port TCP/IP to AllOS, and to implement IIOP so AllOS may become a distributed OS as soon as possible.

Positions: The NetSK team is currently looking for people who have experience with networking systems.

Graphics SK Team

Description: The GrSK team is in charge of creating the lowest level support for graphics and the layer that the UISK sets on top of. This includes text mode displays, graphical displays, and accelerated 3D graphical display modes.

Positions: Please contact Lloyd Duhon to apply as the lead of this team.

Filesystem SK Team

Description: The FSSK team is in charge of creating the overall support structure for filesystems, and the creation of filesystem support for Alliance.

Positions: The FSSK team is currently looking for people who have experience with filesystem coding.

System ORB Team

Description: The SORB team is in charge of the development of the System ORB, based on the CORBA interface specifications. The System ORB is in charge of establishing communication between External Kernels (Application/Emulation Kernels and System Kernels). Applications running on top of a native AK can also benefit from direct access to the SORB. In addition to the standard CORBA communication via the network, the SORB will provide optimized code for delivering local calls through memory-based communication and direct calls when possible.
